ANNUAL VILLAGE LITTER BLITZ Thanks to the 30 people who turned out for the Litter Blitz on 17 April, as well as those who offered succour to the hard-working teams, and all of you who help pick up litter throughout the year. The village is certainly looking beautiful and there was not as much litter as in previous years - well done everyone! Various News Items The police carried out a speed check along New Road on 15 April between 8:50 & 9:30am. 91 vehicles were travelling into the village of which 3 were caught speeding and will receive letters. Also, be alert for telephone calls offering house alarms or debt consolidation - if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This time of year also sees an increase in calls regarding rogue traders doing gardening and tree work. The local police advise people looking for a reliable contractor or supplier to consult Trading Standards' list of reputable companies on www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk or phone them on 0845 051 0845 Don't forget, if you have non-urgent information to report to the police, the local officers can be reached on 08458 505 505 or via email on Cholsey&MoulsfordNHPT@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk South Oxfordshire District Council also sends a warning to residents about bogus biodegradable bags. A market trader was caught selling normal, uncompostable plastic bags carrying the text, 'this bag is fully biodegradable and 100% compostable' to unwitting members of the public. |
