The East Hagbourne Rambling group enjoy regular walks in the local area. We meet up every 2nd Sunday of the month, usually at East Hagbourne Upper Cross at 1:30pm.

Walk #1 – East Hagbourne Rambers

July 10th, being very close to the summer solstice, 7 of us took advantage of the extended daylight hours to take our longest ramble of the year – nearly 9-miles.  The weather was partly cloudy and mild – ideal for such a sojourn.

August 14th looked cloudy and cool as 14 of us started this ramble, but that’s just fine for walkers and we even saw some sunshine before we finished at 5 in the evening.

October 9th was cloudy but dry, windy but mild; this adds up to fine rambling weather for the 11 participants who gathered at Upper Cross for this month’s Village Ramble.

What a lovely day. 13 November, Remembrance Sunday, was clear, dry and mild. I wasn’t the only one who thought so, 16 other ramblers arrived to enjoy the opportunity of stretching our legs on this beautiful day.

Walk #5 – East Hagbourne Rambers

December 11. Only ten days from the winter solstice and a forecast of heavy showers. This walk needed to be short – and it was. Only six people showed up, but we were dressed for anything! Fortunately, the weather was kind as we did a quick tour of some neighbouring villages.

Mea culpa: There was a New Years walk on 1 January and nearly thirty hardy folks enjoyed it, but your erstwhile leader did mess up on the starting time causing the valiant who had dutifully arrived at 1:00 (as listed in this fine publication) to wait a damp and chilly half-hour for those who arrived at 1:30, the time that I listed in a later email. Apologies. Am I fired?

Walk #7 – East Hagbourne Rambers

February 12th. Cloudy, but finally above freezing and 18 people decided to participate in our Village Ramble. We chose a familiar route leading to Upper Chance Farm in the hopes of getting some pleasant views of the snow-covered landscape spread out before us.

Sunday the 13th of May. May is often the loveliest month for rambling and today was no exception: it was sunny with a few, scattered clouds and dry – quite a change from the previous week.
