Sat 29th June Ridgeway event: Follow in the footsteps of famous artists, writers and photographers…

Ridgeway creative forum 2019 v3.pdf

You would be welcome to join in to get creative on The Ridgeway on Saturday 29th June 2019 at St Dunstan’s church, Monks Risborough, Bucks.

See attached flyer or website for details and booking tickets – www.nationaltrail.co.uk/ridgeway/2019forum

Follow in the footsteps of famous artists, writers and photographers who were inspired by what they found along The Ridgeway, including Robert Macfarlane, Thomas Hardy, Eric Ravilious, Clare Leighton, Fay Godwin and others.

  • You can look forward to a morning of talks from Anna Dillon, landscape artist, about her Ridgeway series and the famous Nash brothers, and also from James Crowden about his Wessex Ridgeway poems and memories of the Chilterns Ridgeway in the 1970s. Mike Pringle will be telling us about Richard Jefferies, a great nature writer who loved The Ridgeway and whose influences can be seen in today’s writers.
  • There are afternoon workshops on nearby Whiteleaf Hill, famous for its chalk cross, exploring outdoor sketchbooking, photography and poetry. Alternatively, there is a tour of the church and historic village.
  • There will be a small exhibition of creative work inspired by The Ridgeway as part of the Swire Ridgeway Art Prize competitions.
  • A BBQ lunch is being provided by Orchard View Farm.

This event is for beginner and professional artists, writers, photographers and others interested in exploring the creative inspiration that can be found in the countryside. We want to raise awareness of The Ridgeway National Trail and encourage people to enjoy the Trail and contribute to its creative heritage.
