MAIN ROAD 19-23 JUNE (9.30AM -3.30PM)
Please see below for details of upcoming works in the next couple of weeks. Sorry this is a long one but hopefully it is easier to have all the information we have in one place for reference.
There are some preparatory works being carried out on New Road/Blewbury Road with traffic signal management between 15-17 June. The works will operate on day shift 7.30am – 5.30pm, with signals fully removed between these shifts. This is to replace some lengths of kerbing and rebuild sunken gullies ahead of the resurfacing works below.
New Road/Blewbury Road
Road Closure 18-24 June
Full width resurfacing of New Road / Blewbury Road in East Hagbourne between the junction with Higgs Close and the speed derestriction south of the village heading towards Blewbury.
This NIGHT CLOSURE will be in effect from 8pm – 6am on weekdays only within the closure period.
New Road / Blewbury Road will be fully reopened outside of these working hours. A fully signed diversion will be in place for the scheme duration.
Residents who live within the resurfacing stretch of New Road/Blewbury Road should also have received direct correspondence from OCC.
OCC confirmed the following for the schedule of works:
We will endeavour to maintain vehicular access to those properties affected by the works. However, there may be occasions where delays are likely once the new surfacing is laid, as it takes time to cool down and cure and would not be safe to drive on. The works are being phased during resurfacing operations, to provide as much access as possible;
- Thurs 18th – Resurfacing between Higgs Close and War memorial, including both sides of triangle into Main Road.
- Fri 19th – Resurfacing between Speed Derestriction and bend Nr no. 25.
- Mon 22nd – Resurfacing centre of village between War Memorial and bend Nr No.25.
- Tues 23rd – Resurfacing between Speed Derestriction and War Memorial.
- Gatemen / Traffic Marshals will be positioned at both hard closure points during the road closure. They will direct traffic and pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce during working hours. We ask that you give them your full support and heed their advice whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist.
- Surfacing operations are moving operations so the highest levels of noise will only be experienced by individual frontages for short periods. The noisiest operation, the milling of existing road surface will be completed by 2300hrs, although some construction noise will still be evident during the latter stages of the resurfacing operations. A Section 61 permit for prior consent has been submitted and approved as part of the planning stage.
- A maintenance information website, which will be updated should any changes occur: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/roadworks/planned-road-maintenance
- If you think the works will cause you problems with access or deliveries or if you require further information, then please contact the appropriate person below and we will be happy to answer any queries that you may have.
