Funding of the Pavillion car park

Please see the June Agenda and if you have any concerns then please contact a Councillor.

Planned repair to St Andrew’s Church Stonework

The PCC of St Andrew’s, Hagbourne is pleased to announce that the stonework repairs to the exterior of the church will go ahead from 6th June and, given fine weather, will be completed in 9 weeks.

Scaffolding will be erected which will necessitate a slight deviation of the path through the churchyard, but the right-of-way will remain open. The building site will be fenced off but caution should be exercised in the area. If anyone has any concerns about this work as it progresses please discuss them with me as I am the Client point-of-contact for this contract.

Fun Run / Walk – 2016 Results

The 2016 Hagbourne Fun Run was once again a great event, and the Committee have received loads of complimentary feedback. It seemed like everyone from the village was there or working behind the scenes. Thanks to all the participants, all the many helpers, and to our sponsors The Fleur-de-Lys.

We will be publishing a full report in a week or two, when we have had time to finalise details of amounts raised for our two charities, Cancer Research UK and the East & West Hagbourne Village Fund – all of the Committee have full-time jobs, so we need a bit of time to catch our breath!

This year was a pilot for our new electronic results system, so we have delayed the full list of times until we had double-checked them.  There may be one or two glitches we haven’t ironed out (for example where the entry forms were unclear), but we hope next year will be even better.

Gourmet Pies Coming to the Village Shop!

Image of a meat pie

In celebration of British Pie Week (yes, really!) the Village Shop is delighted to be able to announce that we will now be stocking a range of delicious pies to suit every taste.

Unfortunately we had a problem with Q Gardens providing us with a regular supply of their steak pies and therefore, for the last few months, we have been trying to source a good quality pie from an alternative local producer.  Finally, we have come up with a great product for you to try!

The pies are provided by Blackwoods, an Oxfordshire company based in Henley, which specialises in supplying delicatessens, farm shops and community shops.  The pies are accredited by the British Retail Consortium and have a great range of flavours.

Individual pies will be available in the following flavours priced at £2.15:

  • steak and ale
  • chicken and ham
  • lamb and rosemary

For a meat-free, vegetarian option there are the following options, priced at just £2.00:

  •  cheddar, Stilton and onion
  • sweet potato, spinach and goats cheese

There will also be a large family steak pie priced at £5.20 and a large chicken and ham pie priced at £4.45.

We will be officially launching our pies with our very own Hagbourne Pie Week soon but the first delivery of new pies will arrive this week (7th March)  – please do pop in and pick one up to try – we think they taste great and offer excellent value!

We would love to hear what you think so please feed back your thoughts to the volunteer on duty in the shop or via this email address.

East Hagbourne’s Neighbourhood Plan

East Hagbourne’s Neighbourhood Plan is under way and will cover the whole of East Hagbourne parish. The Plan will consider many aspects of parish life and when complete will have influence over planning decisions and development.

A Steering Committee has been formed and a new, dedicated web site set up at http://easthagbourneplan.net  where you can follow events and get involved.

Follow the link to read about the first public meeting on 19th January when experts from SODC helped us formulate our strategy and see the results from a preliminary walk around the village to identify significant features.

The Plan involves us all, so please join in – watch for public meetings, questionnaires, join a planning group – see the web site for details.

For any enquiries or more information, please contact us on neighbourhoodplan@easthagbourne.net
