St Andrew’s Church Discussion Day – January 2020

Sunday & weekday services in church

It was good to take time out, to meet together in the Village Hall on a Saturday morning in January. Fr Jason introduced a general discussion on ‘Worshipping together’ and we reflected on Romans 12:1-21.

In the first session we were encouraged to think about some of the roles which people undertake in our weekly services, and Jason challenged us to wonder whether God might be calling us to get involved in a new way: whether simply to sit in the pew, welcome people to services, make coffee or to take part in the service (eg lead intercessions, read a lesson, join the choir, help prepare/serve Holy Communion etc). He offered to arrange training if required, eg for people leading intercessions, preparing/serving Holy Communion.

After a break for coffee and chatting, we considered the worship at St Andrews and there was an opportunity for everyone to share views about different aspects of church services, how we worship, or anything that had particularly inspired us or helped our worship over the last year. Jason asked who would be interested to meet as a group, 3-4 times over the coming year, to talk about regular & special services (eg the monthly Family/All Age service).
