Public Art Project
East Hagbourne Parish Council is delighted to share an exciting new public art project for East Hagbourne, made possible through funding from Section 106 contributions linked to the recent housing development. This initiative will see the commissioning of sculptures and artistic features that will enhance key locations in our village.
The housing development and Windsor Crescent are locations for potentially two main sculptures and Parsonage Lane has been identified for a possible smaller sculpture. In addition, we have ambitions to create an artistic feature for the bus shelter and a decorative gateway for the recreation ground. We have developed three artistic briefs addressing sculptures, bus shelter and recreation ground gates.
To bring these ideas to life, we will be circulating the briefs widely to
local artists who may be interested in taking on these projects. We are keen to involve members of the parish in shaping the vision for the artworks and have this as a major item in the Annual Parish Meeting.
We look forward to seeing this exciting project take shape for the whole community to enjoy.

The Hagbourne Fun Run – 5th May
About the Hagbourne Fun Run
The Hagbourne Fun Run and Walk is an annual family friendly event which takes place on the early May bank holiday Monday. The course is 4.5 mile / 7.1 km, multi-terrain starting and ending in East Hagbourne, Oxfordshire. Mainly on footpaths and bridleways it goes via West Hagbourne, Upton and Blewbury before returning to East Hagbourne. The route includes a number of stiles and kissing gates and can be muddy & uneven in parts.
The race is followed by hot food, delicious cakes and drinks & prize giving in East Hagbourne Village Hall. The event is open to all levels and ages of runners and walkers. Dogs are welcome with walkers but not with runners. Since 1990 this event has raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities and the Hagbourne Village Fund which supports local good causes and projects.
